Three New Sites

Okay, I bought/built three new sites in the past week. I figured I’d just combine all these into one post.

The first two sites are ones that I bought from Eric Sizemore (aka SecondVersion). I got a pretty good deal on them.

Domain Cleaner – This is just a simple tool that will take a lot of jumbled text, and extract a nicely formatted list of domain names from it. It’s an extremely useful tool if you’re scanning domains for availability and can’t get a clean list. I’ve used it a lot in the past so when I saw the opportunity to buy the actual site, I took it.

RSS2JS – This is another pretty cool web-based tool that will take any RSS feed and convert is to a Javascript snippet, which can then be placed on a website and then styled with CSS.

The third site is one that I created myself.

Themelets – This is a site where I can showcase all the WordPress child themes and theme frameworks I come across. At the moment, I don’t think child themes are allowed to be listed in the official WordPress Theme Directory, so I guess this also fills a hole in the WordPress child theme sub-niche.

The First 2009 Update

Yeah, I know the last post on this blog was in August of 2008, which was nearly a year ago. I got bored today so decided to update this blog for all you loyal subscribers out there, all eight of you (you know who you are).

This wasn’t the only blog that I left dormant. My other (much more popular) blog, Theme Lab, was also void of any updates for several months. I recently revived it and picked up where I left off. I think I’m pretty lucky to have amassed such a loyal group of subscribers.

So anyway, here’s what I’ve done today to the blog here at Leland.info:

Upgraded to WordPress 2.7.1
Upgraded a number of plugins (pretty easy nowadays)
Changed the theme from Monochromatic to this
Added a nice widgetized footer

That’s about it. I may update this blog in the future, I may not. I don’t really know as I don’t keep track of it much.

PowerTheme Redesigned

I just launched the new PowerTheme design. It’s a much lighter design than the old one. Hope you all like it. I have some more surprises in store for PowerTheme as well, so stay tuned!

Gallerific

I recently launched Gallerific, a web design gallery – powered by WordPress. It’s been featured on sites such as CSS Mania and WP Candy and getting quite a bit of traffic for being so new (about a week). Check it out if you’re looking for some web design inspiration, I’m trying to keep it regularly updated with all the submissions flowing in.

Just switched the theme here at Leland.info for a much simpler and minimalistic look. Thanks to Mitch Bryson for the template.

Also, a few days ago was Theme Lab’s birthday. Can’t believe it’s already been a year since I’ve started that site. It’s grown into a very active site.

PowerTheme

I’ve recently launched a Premium WordPress Themes store at PowerTheme.com. I’m using e-Junkie to automatically process the payments. I’ll have an affiliate program soon through there as well. At the moment there’s only a couple paid themes, but they’re of high quality. There’s also one free theme there at the moment, called Elegance. Feel free to check it out!

I know I haven’t updated in a while, I’ve been busy working on Theme Lab – releasing new themes, writing blog posts, and the like. Since my last update, I’ve released several more themes for free. I’m not going to post the screenshots of all of them, so just visit the site. I’ll also be starting a new “premium only” themes site in the near future, so keep an eye out for that.

New video game cheats website

I saw a pretty cool video game cheats website for sale and decided to buy it. It’s called BQUAL, which I’m guessing is pronounced something like “be equal.” Try searching any video game you can think of in the search box and it has all the possible suggestions pop up. When you select a game all the cheats are loaded below without any page refresh. The site is run on some “framework” called cakePHP, no idea what that is, but it’s pretty nifty.

DNDough Relaunched

Lately I’ve been working on a website I’ve left sitting for quite a while, DNDough. I blogged about it in an earlier post from April of last year, so it’s nearly a year old. Pretty much everything is the same, except I integrated the site into WordPress to make it easier to manage and update without manually editing static files. Hopefully it will start getting some more traffic with some more regular updates.

Theme Find

I recently started a WordPress theme site at Theme Find. This is different from my other similar site, Theme Lab, because Theme Find will list any WordPress theme made by anyone, while Theme Lab only releases exclusive themes. Right now I’m just trying to populate it with as many themes as possible. The base of the site is already complete with the theme, pages, necessary plugins, etc.
